It’s Our 45th Anniversary! Invest in Our Impact today!

What started out in 1976 as an experiment in social justice is now the longest-running community mediation center in the United States.

Let’s celebrate Community Boards’ extraordinary accomplishments! There are many ways for all to participate, learn, and celebrate as we plan and prepare for our next 45 years of peacemaking and restorative justice in San Francisco.

Invest in Our Impact

Our 2021 Annual Fundraising Campaign

Please join us in supporting Community Boards during our Annual Fundraising Campaign. By investing in us, you will be part of our future too. If you make a donation of $100 OR MORE, you’ll receive a an awesome t-shirt!

Looking back at the last 45 years, Community Boards’ accomplishments have been tremendous. One for the history books. As you likely know, the highly replicated model of community mediation began at Community Boards in 1976 by a group of innovative, progressive, and justice-minded people led by Raymond Shonholtz.

Since then, Community Boards staff, trainers, and volunteers have:

  • Provided over 58,000+ people with mediations and conflict coaching sessions
  • Trained over 19,000+ individuals in conflict resolution skills and strategies
  • Facilitated innumerable public and private dialogues and multi-party disputes
  • Authored new curricula, provided trainings, and helped schools introduce our peer mediation model, the Conflict Manager Program
  • Designed and delivered restorative justice trainings for Neighborhood Courts programs to help justice-involved individuals stay out of the legal system
  • Continued to work with the SF Unified School District to help resolve school- and employee-based disputes

Become a 45th Anniversary Sponsor

All are invited to sponsor Community Boards’ 45th Anniversary events. We are trying something new. We are asking that sponsors join at a level that is best for them, between $250 and higher. Sponsorships will support our Neighborhood Mediation Program. We do not turn anyone away for lack of funds. It costs about $250 to provide one mediation. Sponsors’ names or logos will appear in all of the 45th Anniversary promotional materials. We’ll be so appreciative!

Music & Mimosas Sidewalk Sale in the Panhandle

Our sidewalk sale & get together on October 9th was a wonderful success! We raised almost $1400! We plan to use these funds to waive case opening fees for low income disputants. We were blessed with a gorgeous fall day and the generosity of CB Board member Debra Varner and her husband, Michael, who opened up their home to host our event. Thank you to all who donated, supported, purchased, and stopped by to say hello. Here are a few photographs.
